Chicago Park District Facility Assessment Program
CTE was the prime consultant for this project and provided experienced architects and structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers to inspect and assess Park District facilities and develop recommendations for scopes of work and budgets of construction costs. The physical assessment of over 200 Chicago Park District facilities included inspection and documentation of existing physical conditions, assessment and prioritization of maintenance issues, building upgrades, ADA compliance and building violations. These included field houses, gymnasiums, natatoriums, bathhouses, greenhouses, and boiler plants and added up to approximately 400,000 gross square feet of building area.
The site surrounding each of the facilities, which included roughly twice the area of the building footprint, was also inspected and assessed. CTE exceeded the client's goals in terms of the amount of information included in the database and the final reports produced. CTE provided architectural and electrical inspection information on a room by room basis instead of as a generalized condition of rooms by type or area. Additionally, the reports produced included not only a detail of the costs at a facility but also cost summary reports for each facility and for each park, and a Grand Total Cost Summary Report for all of the parks included in the project.
