East 153rd Street Cable-Stayed Bridge
CTE, as the prime consultant in a joint venture, is performing total design and construction support services for the replacement of the East 153rd Street Bridge over Metro-North Railroad, which will be New York City’s first vehicular cable-stayed bridge. This project distinguishes CTE as a firm capable of integrating exceptional engineering with award-winning architectural design. The signature bridge will help revitalize the Bronx by linking Grand Concourse and Park Avenue over the Metro-North Railroad. The structure spans 512 feet, with an approximate width of 105 feet, and will carry two lanes of traffic in each direction, two pedestrian walks, and two bicycle paths. A unique feature of this outstanding bridge design is the pair of 170-foot towers that will be illuminated at night, making possible festive lighting for special events.
The bridge received the prestigious Award for Excellence in Design from the Art Commission of the City of New York.
