Cermak Road Rolling Lift Bridge Rehabilitation

As the lead consultant for the final design of the Cermak Road rolling lift bridge, CTE's objective was to improve the traffic flow for vehicles, marine traffic, and pedestrians.  This was accomplished by raising the bridge 2.5 feet to increase the vertical clearance for river traffic. Existing steel components were removed, taken off-site and rehabilitated to retain original design. In addition, CTE's design included lowering the roadway beneath the viaducts east of Canal Street. The project also included the complete rehabilitation of the bridge operating machinery. CTE provided all architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental services.
