Oakland County Interceptor Sewer Management
Since the early 1990's, CTE has assisted the county in its effort to extend the useful life of interceptor sewers. Nearing the end of their 20-year design life, many network pipes were subject to ever increasing flows due to the county's rapid growth. Programs that supported tributary community infiltration/inflow removal and system modeling efforts that documented sewer capacity indicated that the system provided necessary service without requiring major capital expenditures. A Management And Reporting System (MARS) that graphically provides flow and other system information is constantly available for diagnosing problems and managing system flows. This activity is consistent with the EPA's guidance for their Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance (CMOM) requirements.
