Urbana & Champaign Northeast and Southwest Treatment Plants

CTE completed a three-phase facility planning project and the subsequent design projects for expanding, rehabilitating and repairing the 17-mgd Northeast and 6-mgd Southwest Treatment Plants.  The facility planning effort started with a Needs Assessment and developed target criteria and a list of potential projects. The Long Range Facility Plan involved a detailed capacity evaluation and condition assessments of the existing facilities; population, flow and load projections; evaluation of all unit processes, including a detailed study of biological phosphorus removal and consolidation of sludge handling; and an in-depth review of the plant instrumentation, electrical, support systems, and processes.  CTE then worked with the client to develop designs for the Phase I recommended upgrades and rehabilitation and repairs of various processes identified during the facility planning work.
