Water System Vulnerability Assessments
The USEPA has identified eight elements to be considered during the evaluation and development of a water system vulnerability assessment. CTE has several staff members trained to utilize the Risk Assessment Methodology for Water (RAM-W) to address each of these elements: 1) determine water system objectives; 2) prioritize adverse events/ consequences affecting the water system and surrounding community; 3) define method(s) of conducting malevolent acts; 4) assess probability of malevolent acts from defined threat sources; 5) systematic site characterization including performance data; 6) performance-based approach to evaluate effectiveness of the security system; 7) determine the most critical assets, their interrelationships, the consequences of malevolent acts, and the effectiveness of existing and proposed protection systems; and 8) identify vulnerabilities and provide a prioritized plan for security upgrades, operational procedures, and/or policy changes. For obvious reasons, CTE cannot identify the locations where we have performed these assessments.
